Minister of Music & Worship
Lynette Farrand joined the staff of Pathways in October 2011. She brings with her over 30 years of experience in church music leadership. Raised in a pastor’s home and involved in church music ministry throughout her childhood, Lynette knew from an early age that this was God’s calling for her life. She completed a degree in classical piano performance from Cameron University in Lawton, OK, but also studied church music and Biblical courses at Central Bible College for two years. Following graduation, she served as music director at three Oklahoma churches, and then returned to Springfield in 1984 to accept the position of Music Editor/Promotions Coordinator with the Assemblies of God National Music Department. It was there that she became reacquainted with Phil Farrand, a friend from her CBC days, who had recently vacated the music editor position she had just been hired to fill. “I took his job and then his heart…” jokes Lynette. Fast forward to present day, Phil & Lynette have one married daughter and experienced the joy of becoming grandparents in 2010.
Music ministry is her passion and Lynette says that when she’s leading worship, that’s where her “heart is home.” She also loves being a choir director and working with choirs of all ages. In Springfield, prior to joining Pathways, Lynette served as Minister of Music at two local churches, one for 19 years, and another for 2.5 years. She has also taught private piano, substituted in public school music classes, done extensive recording studio work (writing, arranging and playing), and has had the privilege of lecturing about music ministry and worship-leading in Bible colleges both stateside and in Fiji and South Africa. She has served as choir manager for the Springfield-area “Heritage of Hymns” community choir since its inception.
Her favorite activity is anything with family – especially if it involves her granddaughter. She’s an animal lover and freely admits spoiling her two dogs and cat. Besides music ministry, Lynette enjoys reading, all things jazz, watching movies, traveling with her husband, entertaining/cooking, and creative projects both on and off the computer. Oh, and Starbucks…definitely Starbucks.
